Forum > Lender Questions > Showing negative balance
Once again, I have a negative balance showing. Can you correct this ASAP as I can't lend to anyone until this is sorted.
please send an email to [email protected] so someone in the support group can take a look at this. Julie also reported this issue - goyimei.info/forum-threa...
As I indicated to her, at times credit transaction comes in a little late. When it happened to me, it cleared in a day. Wait a bit before you send email - unless of course its more than 24 hours since you first saw it. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the replies. I have emailed the address you provided, Joshi. The issue is more serious than late credits. My account has been showing a very large negative balance for several days now.
As far as I know this is caused because a payment of a borrower is reversed. More info.
*sigh* My balances changed to negative stretching back into last year. Doesn't seem right. I've emailed that address and will update this when I hear back. Seems a shame that someone will have to spend time on what is a relatively small sum when the problem seems not to be confined to my account.
(P.S. Is it my imagination or does Mark only lend to pretty women? lol)
I've seen your email but am not authorised to reply to emails from lenders. It's mainly Julia who replies to lender emails, so she'll get back to you soon.
To hopefully shed a bit of light on it here though: I can see your transaction history shows your account balance has been generally negative, although it isn't deducting the repayments you receive.
For example, on June 8 you received 11 cents, which gave you the balance shown, which I won't mention here. Your next entry on June 10 shows you received 40 cents, and the balance is indeed 40 cents more than it was. You then received another couple of cents and the balance went up accordingly.
As for your account balance being negative: I know the usual reason is when a repayment you received was reversed, resulting in the following scenario, for example:
Say your balance is $10 and then you receive a repayment of $2, so you now have $12.
You then decide to lend the $12, taking your balance to zero.
Then the $2 you received is reversed because it was deemed to have been credited in error, so your balance is now -$2.
That's how it can happen. However, I'm going to ask Julia and the Technical Team more about this, because I've seen these negative account balances a surprising number of times given the very small amount of repayment entry errors there are.
Hello again Atheist.
I asked about this and Julia said it's likely to have occurred because there was a problem around the end of May and beginning of June with some Indonesian repayments being duplicated.
I see on our Technical board this was fully fixed on June 12th, so around that time any erroneous duplicates were removed, which would cause account balances and the transaction history to be altered.
Sorry about the problem.
Are you referring to the two entries on June 19, where you received a credit back of $10 and $11?
If so, I'm seeing that your account balance at the end of June 17 was negative, then it went up by 10 and 11 dollars on the 19th so it's now positive.
In fact, I've seen your other queries, although I'm not authorised to reply to emails from lenders, so I hope you don't mind if I mention this here:
At the end of June 17 your balance shows as -$11.95.
You then received a credit back of $10 which took the balance to -$1.95.
You then received another credit back of $11 which took the balance to $9.05.
The entries are listed by most recent first, so to follow your balance up from the oldest on that page you need to start at the bottom and work up.
It's displaying correctly at this end, so if you're not seeing the same thing please take a screenshot and send it to us by email.
